The stuff of nightmares

~E~

Since elementary school, I have had countless nightmares involving driving on raised roads that suddenly end, or have no barriers on the side, or the car dies and I have to somehow climb the rest of the way because the roads are steep and scary. These were and are truly nightmares. I wake up shaking and scared.

For ages I couldn't figure out why I was having these dreams. Then I went to Milwaukee.

Mystery solved.

Apparently my class went to Milwaukee for a field trip and these roads freaked me out so much that it has stuck with me. I still hate driving in Milwaukee.

LOL! Yes, I can definitely see why you had nightmares like that, E!

Me, I often had nightmares that involved being left behind at a store while I was hiding in the center of a clothes rack. Being nightmares, they would usually include weird details like then I saw my family's station wagon driving away and my siblings waving good-bye to me as I was drowning in a sea of catsup.

OK?

Well, if I apply this in a similar manner, I would say that we went shopping a lot growing up, and I would play in the racks to pass the time while my mother scoured the bargain racks. And I used to HATE catsup. I think it's pretty accurate too.
Oh, and OBVIOUSLY I had a fear of being abandoned. But I think that's a healthy fear for a child to have when she's playing in the clothes racks instead of paying attention to where her family is.
I've not met a child who DIDN'T play in the clothes racks! They are so tempting...
