In the still of the night

Some strange sound woke me up last night at 3:30 am. The cat heard it too, and leaped off the bed to go see what it was, but then she turned and stared at my bedroom window for a while. Not fun. We heard no other sounds, although I did get up and turn some lights on and off just so there were signs of awareness in the house.

Makes me wish I could borrow a big dog at night.

This morning I unlocked the back door and as I pulled it open the handle came off in my hand. Errrr, not cool. The handle is separate from the lock so I'm safe, and I think it's entirely coincidence, but I hate stuff like that.

Oh god! I wouldn't like that either! Do you have a motion sensor light installed on your porch // back yard? I think those a good deterrent and also of course make it easier to peek out the window if you hear a funny sound...

I think I should just get guard dogs. Burglars aren't so afraid of people but even hardened criminals are scared of big mean dogs.

~E~ Pirate pants complete! I'm sewing and I'm happy! I'm working on pirate costumes for myself and for Daughter for Halloween and I'm on fire . I'm not a super seamstress, but I can get the job done if the instructions are clear. My methods might be laughed at by a professional but I enjoy what I do and I've made some pretty awesome things, I have to say. Ichiban Son got a kick-ass Green Power Ranger costume for kindergarten that took me probably 60 hours to make but it was totally worth it - I impressed myself and everyone else who saw it. Daughter got a harem costume one year, and a gypsy/pirate queen costume the next. Another of my favorites is a kilt I made from red bandannas; it was for a party with a scottish/cowby theme. Krekel Wezen

~E~ It is the new catch phrase for the Blizzard family. It translates as "cricket being", which captures my fancy. Now I want to learn Dutch. Spanish, French and Irish: Grillo = cricket Grillon = cricket Cruicéad = cricket I still think krekel beats them all.
